Wet spell in north, low lying areas of Himachal inundated

Northern India saw moderate to heavy rainfall today with several low lying areas of Himachal Pradesh's Kangra and Una districts inundated and many rivers in Uttar Pradesh continuing to be in spate.
Cloud cover and showers in some parts of the national capital led to a decline in the mercury level.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 29.1 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal while minimum was 25.4 deg C, a notch below normal.
Delhi received 16.2 mm of rains in last 24 hours ending at 8.30 AM, a MeT official said.
In HP, gushing rain waters entered some houses in Nurpur area of Kangra district and lower areas of Una and services of fire brigade were requisitioned to drain out the water.
Remote village of Samah in Paonta Sahib was sinking due to massive landslides and 30 to 35 families residing in the villages are being shifted to safer locations, official sources said.

The sky remained heavily overcast and foggy conditions prevailed in Shimla town which received 155 mm of rains, followed by Dharamsala 131 mm and Sujanpur Tira and Guler with 123 mm of rains.
While in UP, a Central Water Commission report said Ganga continued to flow close to the red mark at Fatehgarh and Kanpur and was flowing above the danger mark at Ballia.
Sharda River at Palia Kalan, Ghaghra at Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar and Budhi Rapti Rivers at Siddharthnagar were also flowing above the red mark, sources said.
Shravasti received 93.4 mm rains followed by Basti 90mm, Balrampur 88 mm, Bahraich 84.4 mm and Hamirpur 84 mm, MeT officials said.
