Wheat and barley prices firmed by up to Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale grain market today due to an increased offtake by flour mills and stockists.
Traders said increased offtake by flour mills against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to rise in wheat prices.
They said pick-up in demand from consuming industries helped barley prices trade higher.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1,665-1,670 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,675-1,680 per 90 kg. Atta flour mills were also seen in demand where the price went up Rs 20 to Rs 870-875 per 50 kg.
