Rice basmati also went up on stockists' buying on the back of uptick in demand from retailers.
Markets were shut on Monday and Tuesday for Vishkarma Puja and Bhai Dooj, respectively.
Traders said besides increased demand from flour mills, tight stocks position on fall in supplies mainly pushed up wheat prices.
Besides, a firm trend at the futures trade also supported the upmove, they said.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) and wheat (desi) jumped up by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,100-2,105 and Rs 2,540-3,075 per quintal, respectively. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 2,110-2,115 per 90 kg.

In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety rose by Rs 300 each to Rs 5,300-5,400 and Rs 4,300-5,200 per quintal, respectively.
Other bold grains like, bajra and barley too gained Rs 20 each to Rs 1,350-1,355 and Rs 1,650-1,655 per quintal, respectively on pick up in demand from consuming industries.
