Wheat prices fell by 2.30% to Rs 1,740 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, driven by adequate stocks position at spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in July fell by Rs 41, or 2.30% to Rs 1,740 per quintal with an open interest of 1,130 lots.
Similarly, the wheat for delivery in August shed Rs 3, or 0.17% to Rs 1,745 per quintal in 31,530 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in wheat futures to ample stocks position in the physical market against reduced offtake by flour mills.
