Wheat prices edged up by 0.30 per cent to Rs 1,995 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions amid uptick in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in September rose by Rs 6, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 1,995 per quintal with an open interest of 2,220 lots.
On similar lines, the wheat for delivery in August contracts was trading higher by Rs 4, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 1,974 per quintal in 5,980 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders on the back of improved demand in the physical market and a pause in arrivals from producing belts helped wheat prices to trade higher in futures trade.
