Wheat futures rise 0.43% as demand picks up

Wheat prices were up by 0.43 per cent to Rs 1,866 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators built up fresh positions driven by upsurge in demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in January moved up by Rs 8, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 1,866 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,210 lots.
Likewise, the wheat for delivery in February was trading marginally up by a Re, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 1,870 per quintal in 1,870 lots.
Analysts said speculative positions created by traders amid uptick in demand from flour mills in the spot market helped wheat prices to trade higher at futures trade.
