Wheat, rice decline on low demand, ample supply

Weak conditions prevailed at the wholesale grains market in the national capital today as prices of wheat and rice basmati drifted owing to reduced offtake by flour mills and stockists against adequate stocks position.
Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills against sufficient stocks position mainly kept pressure on wheat prices.
They said slack buying weighed the on rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) eased by Rs 30 to Rs 180-185 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 1,510-1,515 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji were also slipped to Rs 820-830, Rs 840-850 and Rs 940-950 from previous levels of Rs 840-850, Rs 870-880 and Rs 980-1,000 per 50 kg respectively.
In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety also moved down by Rs 200 each to Rs 5,200-5,400 and Rs 4,000-5,100 per quintal respectively.

Other bold grains like, bajra, maize and barley too eased to Rs 1,235-1,240, Rs 1,270-1,275 and Rs 1,305-1,310 from last levels of Rs 1,250-1,255, Rs 1,285-1,310 and Rs 1,370-1,375 per quintal respectively on reduced offtake by consuming industries.
