Wheat rises on uptick in demand from flour mills

Wheat prices firmed up by Rs 25 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following increased offtake by flour mills.
However, rice basmati eased on sluggish demand.
Traders said increased demand from flour mills to meet festive season demand mainly attributed to rise in wheat prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) moved up by Rs 25 to Rs 1,780-1,785 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,785-1,790 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also settled higher at Rs 955-960, Rs 1,030-1,040 and Rs 1,080-1,090 from previous levels of Rs 945-950, Rs 1,000-1,010 and Rs 1,070-1,080 per 50 kg respectively.
On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety finished lower at Rs 5,100-5,300 and Rs 4,250-5,000 against last close of Rs 5,300-5,500 and Rs 4,300-5,200 per quintal espectively.
