Wheat surges on increased demand from flour mills

Wheat prices shot up by Rs 35 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased buying by flour mills against fall in supplies from producing belts.
Traders said increased buying by flour mills to meet the rising demand amid restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up wheat prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) and wheat deshi rose by Rs 35 each to Rs 1,580-1,585 and Rs 2,215-2,415 per quintal respectively. Atta chakki delivery followed suit moved up to Rs 1,585-1,590 from previous level of Rs 1,550-1,555 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills and maida also ended higher at Rs 840-845 and Rs 950-960 against last close of Rs 820-830 and Rs 915-930 per 50 kg respectively in line with a firming trend in wheat.
