Whirlpool expects 10 pc increase in turnover

With plans to launch 210 models during this year, home appliances firm Whirlpool India expects to increase its turnover by 10 per cent this fiscal over the last year's Rs 3,340 crore, a senior company official said today.
The company has already launched a few of its new models in refrigerators, washing machines and micro wave ovens, Whirlpool India Corporate Affairs and Strategy Vice-President Shantanu Das Dupta told reporters here.
The new offerings of advanced products were the results of continued investment, to the tune of Rs 500 crore, in innovations for the last four years, he said.
On the company's market share, he said it was 15 per cent in washing machines, 19 per cent in single door refrigerators and 15 per cent in frost-free fridges. This was expected to increase as new models would be launched by December 2014.
As far as Tamil Nadu, Whirlpool's largest market, it was targeted to increase the turnover from the present Rs 440 crore to Rs 575 crore this fiscal, he said.
Dupta ,here to inaugurate a new brand shop - the second in the state, said five more brand shops would be opened this year.
