In the wake of allegations that some of Congress' votes in Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana were rejected due to use of wrong pens, PCC chief Amarinder Singh today asked what difference it makes if someone uses ink of a different colour while voting.
"The world has entered the year 2016. And you are saying which is blue pen, black pen? What difference it makes, when one has ticked with blue, red, green, pink colour of ink. Who cares? It is stupidity....," he said here.
The votes of 14 Congress MLAs were declared invalid in the Rajya Sabha elections for two seats in Haryana which led to independent candidate R K Anand, backed by the party, losing the poll.
Amarinder said the party would find out what had led to the shock defeat.
After the victory of BJP-backed Independent candidate and media baron Subhash Chandra from one seat in the biennial polls to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana, allegations and counter allegations by political parties ran thick and fast on the "invalid" votes.
Congress yesterday approached the Election Commission to demand cancellation of the election to both Rajya Sabha seats from Haryana, alleging that a "conspiracy" by the BJP and RSS led to the defeat of the candidate backed by it.
Senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala, who is also Leader of Opposition in Haryana Assembly, had pointed fingers at the ruling BJP as well as "Hooda and company" for allegedly being behind the conspiracy which led to the votes being declared as invalid, paving the way for Chandra's win.
