The 39-year-old actor, who played Jonathan on the hit early-90s sitcom, opened up about his illness on Oprah Winfrey's show, saying he wanted to share the news "a long time ago," reported Variety.
"There's this awful feeling of, 'I'm never going to be able to have a good relationship. No one's ever going to want me. There was, however, a silver lining of sorts.
"There was a sense of relief... It's backwards. You've spent so much time terrified that you're going to get it, and then you have it. You don't have to be terrified anymore," Pintauro said.
He has finally went public saying, "It's just a big deal. It's not something that people are talking about right now really."
Before the telecast of the episode, Pintauro shared a picture on Instagram of himself next to husband Wil Tabares, whom he married in 2014.
"Last meal as a nobody. First meal as an activist. #lifelovelive," he captioned the picture.
