Union minister Niranjan Jyoti has questioned the "silence" of Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the Jawaharlal Nehru University row.
"Why is she maintaining silence? Her silence reflects that there is some shortcoming," Jyoti told reporters, adding that it was shameful of Rahul Gandhi to take side of a group that was trying to "revolt".
The Union minister of State for food processing said "stern action" should be taken against those who shouted anti-national slogans in JNU.
"Some people are trying to divide the country. They have also raised questions on patriotism of RSS. The patriotism of Sangh is unquestionable," she said.
The minister also demanded a probe on functioning of madrasas and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
On being asked about the Jat agitation in Haryana, Jyoti said that it was the handiwork of the opposition.
