Wife of martyred soldier to get 'sacred earth' after 44 years

The Army today handed over the urn carrying 'sacred earth' brought from the burial place of 1971 war martyr Albert Ekka to Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, days after the soldier's wife requested it for adoration.
Ekka's wife Balamdin had pleaded the government for bringing the 'sacred earth' from Tripura where her husband's remains were buried after he went down fighting the Pakistani troops in the war of 1971.
Lance Naik Ekka was awarded Param Vir Chakra, the highest military decoration of India, posthumously.
The Chief Minister will go to Jari village in Gumla district to hand over the urn to Balamdin on December 3, an official release said here.

The chief minister received the urn carrying the sacred earth from a representative of the Army, who came from Dulki village near Agartala, where Ekka was buried, it added.
Commending the Army for its quick response, Das said it would give the message of patriotism and inspire the generations next.
In 2013, the Hemant Soren government provided Balamdin's son a government job.
