Opposition National Conference today said it will bring a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for restoring full autonomy granted to the state under the Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.
"NC will bring a resolution on Autonomy in the assembly. It has become imperative as there is an attack on special status guaranteed under Article 370," National Conference general secretary and MLA from Khanyar, Ali Mohammad Sagar told reporters here today.
Sagar said repeated attempts are being made to weaken Article 370.
"To protect, defend and strengthen it, the autonomy is the solution to ensure that". The party has been seeking pre-1953 status for the state when only three subjects- Defence, Foreign Affairs and Communication were under the Centre.
Members of National Conference and Congress disrupted the Governor's joint address to the the two houses of Jammu and Kashmir Legislature today over various issues including implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and withdrawal of AFSPA. They later staged a walkout.
Defending the party decision to walk out, Sagar said, "The government was claiming that NFSA is its biggest achievement but it has turned out to be the biggest failure.

"All the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir are protesting against the Act. The second issue is relief to flood victims. This government is total failure on that count as well," he added.
He said the third issue was that of a minister in this government warning "Gujjar brothers" of a 1947-like situation. He was referring to Forest Minister Lal Singh who was alleged to have made threatening remarks against Gujjars in Jammu region last week.
"Such a communal minister has no right to sit in the cabinet. We staged the walkout on these three issues. We represented the sentiments of the people of the state," he said.
