As the Metro made further inroads into Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said here the state was working to tap the weekend tourists of Delhi, whose famous markets are now overcrowded.
"Haryana is working towards tapping weekend tourist traffic of places like Delhi and its nearby areas," he said, adding,"we are in talks with some companies... Delhi's locational advantage goes in our favour, we will exploit it."
Khattar also hinted that with Delhi's famous markets getting overcrowded and with Metro services now expanding to Bahudurgarh, Kundli, Gurgaon and Faridabad, the state was set to reap its benefit.
"They (companies) are in touch with us, we have prepared development plan...In Kharkhoda (near Sonepat, close to Delhi), we have land, in Gurgaon also we have some land, wherever it suits them, accordingly we can proceed further," the chief minister said.
The state was promoting Kalka to Kalesar circuit in the Shivalik hills, while Kurukshetra, Adi Badri, Faridabad, among other places have lot to offer on the Centre's 'Krishna Circuit', Khattar said.
Meanwhile, with just three days left before Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Chandigarh International Airport to the public, Khattar said that his state has no objection if the project is named after Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.
