"A new India is taking shape in the newly-formed state," Abdullah said while inaugurating the 1 MW solar plant at the new Mantralaya building here.
The minister also said, "I will extend every possible support to Chief Minister (Raman Singh) for setting up power plants based on solar energy, wind energy and geo-thermal energy in the state".
He suggested to promote the drip irrigation method through solar energy as such an experiment had borne positive results in states like Punjab.
Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for establishing another solar plant at new Mantralaya was inked between NRDA and CREDA today.
