Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today warned the state government employees and officials that neglect in work for the people would not be tolerated.
Addressing a government programme here in North Dinajpur district during her current tour of the North Bengal districts which saw large number of people attending it, Banerjee said people should not suffer or face harassment.
She hinted that in case of complaints, the officials concerned would face action according to an Act passed in the state Assembly recently.
The West Bengal Right to Public Services Bill, 2013, moved by the Mamata Banerjee government for prompt delivery of public services to people was passed in the state Assembly, which provides for delivery of services within a stipulated time.
Accusing the previous Left Front government for inaction in many areas, she said, "Time waits for none. People have put their faith in me and it is my duty to work for their welfare".
"A list of work is being prepared and neglect will not be tolerated. The responsibility is being given to the state Chief Secretary who will look into it. Leaving work pending will not be allowed," she stressed.

"I do not see political colour when I work for the people. There has been no development for all this time since there was lack of sincerity," she said in an apparent dig at the previous CPI(M)-led government.
The state government had yesterday imposed a blanket ban on agitations at 'Nabanna', the relocated West Bengal state secretariat, which was seen as an extension of Banerjee's "no bandh, no disruptive protests" stance.
Reacting to the order, employees' unions affiliated to the Left and the Congress have accused the Chief Minister of trying to curb their democratic rights.
