Will oppose human rights violations globally: Narayanasamy
Press Trust of India Puducherry Minister of State in PMO V Narayanasamy today said India would oppose 'tooth and nail' any human rights violations in any part of the world and condemn infringement of rights. "India is a strong champion of human rights and if there is violation of human rights in any part of the world, India will oppose it tooth and nail and condemn the infringement of rights," he told reporters here. Narayanasamy said Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa's stand of ruling out autonomy for Tamils in the island nation "cannot be accepted". India insists that the 1987 Rajiv Gandhi Jawyawardane accord be adhered to in letter and spirit. Any attempt to violate it and also to deny autonomy to Tamil provinces there can never be accepted, he said. "India has always been adhering to the policy of cordial relations with neighbouring countries. We will not also permit violation of human rights in any part of the world," he said.
