The Goa Forward Party (GFP), a constituent of the BJP-led Goa government, today said it would always remain loyal to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, two days after Maharashtravadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader Sudin Dhavlikar said he was mentally prepared to lead the state.
The GFP and MGP are the constituents of the BJP-led government, besides three Independent MLAs.
GFP president and Town & Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai has said that his party would never side with any other party in its bid to topple the state government.
"Goemkars (Goans) are known for sticking to their word and we will do the same by continuing our support to Parrikar," Sardesai said.
His remarks came two days after Dhavlikar's statement that he was "mentally-prepared" to take up the responsibility as chief minister, as Parrikar is away in the US for medical treatment.
"The Congress is trying to replace the incumbent chief minister and install their CM (by toppling the government). Some others are talking other things. However, I am trying to get the CM back from America hale and hearty," Sardesai said.
