Delhi University today said it has received a communication from UGC asking it to review the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) but remained tightlipped on its stance saying it will "reply in due course".
Amid continuing protests by several students and teachers against FYUP, University Grants Commission had yesterday sent a formal letter to DU asking it to review the programme as per its decision on June 13.
"The letter (from the UGC) has been received. The university will reply in due course," DU's media coordinator Malay Neerav said.
On allegations by a section of teachers that DU Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh has refused to take heed of the UGC's decision and has scheduled an Academic Council meeting on June 21 to secure approval for new courses under FYUP, Neerav said that it was a "routine" meeting.
"The Academic Meeting was scheduled to take place for some time now. It is neither a special meeting nor a emergency meeting, but a routine one," he said.
In its full Commission meeting on June 13, UGC members opined that FYUP was in "violation" of the national policy on education which follows the 10+2+3 pattern.
