DMK today said it will support Karnataka government if the latter filed an appeal against the acquittal of AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa in the wealth case by the Karnataka High Court.
"Will support" was the response of DMK chief M Karunanidhi when reporters asked him if his party will support Karnataka government in case it went for an appeal against Jayalalithaa's acquittal in the Rs 66.66-crore disproportionate assets case.
Jayalalithaa, convicted by a Bengaluru special court in September last year, was acquitted by the Karnataka High Court yesterday.
Political parties in Tamil Nadu, including DMK and Congress, have been demanding that Karnataka government should appeal against the HC verdict.
It was after the pleas of DMK that the case was transferred from Tamil Nadu to the Bangalore Special Court by the Supreme Court in 2003 and since then the party General Secretary K Anbazhagan had impleaded in the case.
