Claiming that anti-social elements carrying arms had mixed with Jat agitators, Haryana DGP K P Singh today said that stern action will be taken against "miscreants" responsible for the clash here yesterday in which several police personnel were injured.
Singh met 18 police personnel, including an SP and a DSP, who were among the 35 injured in the clash which occurred after Jat protesters were stopped by the police from marching towards Delhi.
"The miscreants will be brought to book and stern action under the law will be taken against them," the Haryana DGP said.
He claimed that some anti-social elements carrying arms had mixed with Jat agitators who had attacked police at Dhani Gopal yesterday. Singh alleged that the miscreants had also indulged in "some mischief" with women cops on duty.
He said a case had been registered against some persons by name while several others were unidentified. The police, he said, had video footage of the incident and had already identified some persons behind the attack.
He claimed that the state police had inputs that anti-social elements, armed with weapons from some villages of the adjacent district of Hisar, would reach the 'dharna' at Dhani Gopal Chowk and would try to disturb the situation.

It was on the basis of this input, the police tried to stop them from reaching the spot by putting barricades and told them to visit the 'dharna' site without weapons and stones, he said.
But they did not listen to it and attacked the police, DGP Singh claimed.
Singh said that he had also met the injured cops and three mediapersons who were admitted to a Fatehabad hospital. Though expressing relief that that nobody was in a serious condition, the DGP said that five to six of them had fractures. Two women cops were among the injured, he said.
Media persons performing their duty at sensitive places in Haryana will be provided body protectors and helmets so as to ensure their safety during any situation of violence, he said.
Singh announced certificates for all cops injured in the
clash and a cash award of Rs 5,000 each for them as well as the injured mediapersons.
The DGP said he had directed the police department to bear all expenses on the medical treatment of all the injured and added that he would request the district administration to compensate the mediapersons for the financial loss they had suffered.
He said police personnel would also be honoured at the state level Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
Had the police not acted wisely, many precious lives could be lost, Singh claimed, praising the personnel including women cops for their courage.
Referrring to the improved facilities being planned for the police force in the state, Singh said that basic amenities like air coolers, water coolers with Reverse Osmosis (RO) system, LED screens of 62 inches and beds with mattresses would be provide in the offices of all police stations and police lines of the state before April 15.
