Over 50 of India's best windsurfers will compete in the Windsurfing National Championship to be held at Cidade de Goa from May 22 to 26.
The championship will be conducted by the Goa Yachting Association (GYA), in association with the Board Sailing Association of India and Cidade de Goa.
The Goa State Windsurfing Championship will also be held simultaneously.
Boardsailing Association of India president Anil Madgavkar told reporters here today that this championship is especially important because rankings obtained by windsurfers during this event would determine selections for the Asian Sailing Championships to be held at Incheon, South Korea in September.
It will also be important for earning berths in the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China and the Asian Games in Incheon.
GYA president Ashwin Tombat said that around 20 youngsters from Goa would compete at the Youth, Junior and Sub-Junior levels, both in the Goa State Championship and the Nationals.
