He was speaking on the concluding day of the three-day training session of state BJP MLAs held at Thane.
"Earlier, it was easy to keep winning elections. But, today people and the media keep a vigil on your (MLAs) work. Thus, you need to be more careful," Danve told the newly elected BJP MLAs.
Briefing the leaders on their effective role as an MLA, Danve said that it is important for him or her to win confidence of people by establishing a rapport with them.
He said any party may successfully get a large number of its leaders elected to the Parliament and in the Assembly as well but it is a difficult task to replicate the performance in local elections.

"Keeping this (local polls) in mind you need to extend support to the local leaders," he said.
Danve advised the party MLAs to lay out the government initiatives and its policies in front of the people to keep their faith in the party.
Senior BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, Prakash Javadekar, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Eknath Khadse and other attended it.
