With his entire support team, including his family, regular caddie from India Rajiv and his coach Vijay Divecha here, India's Anirban Lahiri seems to be in a happy space and is raring to go in the Open Championship at the Home of Golf.
Lahiri's wife Ipsa, dad and mom, his caddie and regular coach are all already here. He also expects a few friends are to arrive and all that has put him in a great frame of mind for what is a momentous occasion - an Open Championship at the Home of Golf.
"This is as good as it gets. Getting to play the Open Championships at St Andrews is indeed a privilege. I have never played here and though there were opportunities to play at the course at Dunhill, which I never got down to playing because of scheduling. So, now it is the Open itself," said Lahiri.
Like many other courses on either side of the Atlantic, Lahiri, winner of the Malaysian Open and Hero Indian Open this year, is also getting used to the conditions and the course.
"I landed here on Saturday and played a full round on Sunday and 12 holes on Monday. I played with Scott Hend on Sunday and he's been here a few times and yesterday it was with Nick Faldo, a former champion here. He is himself focused on playing here for one last time, I believe. So, he was very focused but I did get to pick his brains," the Indian golfer said.
Today, Lahiri spent more than a few hours at the range and then at the practice greens and bunker play.
