People are making a beeline to Gurnam's house in Arichana village with prayers on their lips for his early recovery.
"Since we got the news about the incident we have been praying to Waheguru," said Gurjeet Kour, sister of Gurnam.
She said that her brother was in a critical condition and the government must shift him to a bigger hospital outside the state where he can be treated.
He was injured yesterday morning when Pakistani snipers targeted him as he was instrumental in foiling a major infiltration bid along the international border in Kathua district.

"Right now he needs prayers. He put his life in danger to protect the people of our country. He needs prayers and please pray for him," Singh said.
Scores of border dwellers in R S Pura and Arnia belts are visiting the house of Gurnamand prayingfor his long life. Across Jammu region people are holding prayers for the early recovery of the brave son of the soil.
"He was so excited when he got the commando training. We pray for his early recovery so that he can return and join duty. The country is in need of soldiers like him," a villager said.
