Even as the cease-work by lawyers at City Civil Court and Presidency Small Causes Court completed a month today, there was no indication about withdrawal of their agitation demanding extended jurisdiction of these courts.
The lawyers' bodies at both the courts called on West Bengal Law Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya demanding extended jurisdiction of these courts and with a hope to get her help to resolve the issue.
Briefing the meeting later, Member of the West Bengal Bar Council Shyamal Ghatak said the minister assured them to look into the matter, "but she takes ten days time to take up the matter with appropriate bodies".
"Earlier, we met the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, which had failed to yield any result," Ghatak said, adding that they have also given deputation to Raj Bhavan on their demands.
Lawyers' bodies of both these courts would held a meeting with their members tomorrow to discuss about the fate of the cease-work, Ghatak said.
