The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Amrita Majhi, Assistant Agriculture Officer (AAO) in Rangeilunda block.
Police recovered the body of Majhi, who was not married, as it was hanging from the ceiling of toilet of the house by breaking the door.
Police also seized her mobile phone set, a diary and a novel from her room.
The reason behind her step was yet to be known, police said.
Majhi, hailing from Bhubaneswar and daughter of a retired bank officer D N Majhi, was working in Rangeilunda block since 2013.
"She was alright. But we don't know why she had taken such step" said her mother.
