Woman allegedly burnt to death over dowry

A 28-year-old woman died here under mysterious circumstances and police have arrested her husband after her family alleged foul play.
Sushil Upahyaya, 32, husband of the victim Vibha, was arersted in Shalimar Garden area here after her family alleged that he was harasssing her for dowry and had set her afire after they could not fulfill his demands, police said today.
Vibha and Sushil were married seven years ago.
Sushil's family told police that when Vibha was preparing break-fast for her five-year-old son on Monday, her clothes caught fire. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Vibha's parents alleged that she was being harassed over dowry for several months and when they failed to meet their demands, they allegedly set her on fire.
"We have arrested Sushil. Police are investigating allegations made by Vibha's family. A case has been registered in this regard," said a police officer.
