The 20-year-old woman, a housewife, and her 45-year-old mother-in-law were at home on Sunday night when some youths forcibly entered their house armed with sharp weapons and allegedly raped them.
The youths also threatened them with dire consequences if they lodged any police complaint against them, the two women alleged.
The 20-year-old woman said that she went to the Krishnaganj police station on the same night to lodge a rape complaint against the youths but the police allegedly refused to accept her complaint.
She claimed that after the police refused to accept her rape complaint the youths came to their house and set it on fire.
Today she went to the district headquarters town of Krishnagar and met senior police officials after which the police received her complaint.
Superintendent of Police Sabysachi Raman Mishra said, "We have received a rape complaint and of the house of the alleged victims being set on fire. We are looking into the incidents. The law will take it own course".
On police initially refusing to accept the complaint of the women, the SP said, "we are looking into the whole matter".
