Metropolitan Magistrate Shivani Chauhan, who was hearing the woman's complaint under the Domestic Violence Act, asked her to give an explanation on the "point of limitation as well as the continuity of domestic relationship with her brother", saying she did not file the plea within one year of the incident.
The court also noted that the woman who claimed to be highly educated, did not even remember the name of the institutions from where she had completed her education and directed her to obtain the documents to prove her educational qualification within four weeks.
However, her brother submitted her PAN card details in the court after which the magistrate issued a notice to the Income Tax department to provide the copies of the documents of tax return filed by her so that her bank account details could be traced.
"This would enable the court to trace the bank account details of the complainant (woman) so that she can have access to the funds, if any, lying in her accounts. The Income Tax department is directed to provide this information within four weeks..." the magistrate said.
