Woman attacked with acid over dowry

A woman sustained burn injuries after she was allegedly attacked with acid by her husband and four other family members over dowry in Mirzapur village here, police said today.
Geeta, who was married to Awanish of Kasganj, was allegedly harassed and beaten for more dowry, they said.
According to the FIR, Geeta's family had already given dowry at the time of marriage but after her wedding the in-laws demanded more dowry.
Police said last week her husband and four other members threw acid at her.
She went to a police station to lodge an FIR but her complaint was not registered.

The victim then moved a local court and an FIR was registered yesterday against her husband and four family members, SHO Dhirajpal Singh said, adding no arrests have been made so far in this regard.
