Woman attempts self-immolation at Collectorate

A middle-aged woman today attempted self-immolation inside the District Collectorate premises here, alleging delay by Revenue Department in carrying out measurement of her plot, police said.
Ammasai who had come to submit a petition at the grievance day meet, suddenly took a kerosene bottle and poured it on her body. However, before she could light herself up, a few women police personnel there overpowered her and took her to the police station.
Ammasi alleged that despite repeated pleas, the department was not taking steps to measure her land at Molappalayam about 40 kms from here.
