Woman burnt to death; husband, in-laws booked for dowry

A 20-year-old woman died of severe burn injuries and her husband and in-laws booked for allegedly setting her afire over dowry demands in Jasohar Pahari area here, police said.
The victim, identified as Neelam, was last night brought to the district hospital with more than 90 per cent of her body burnt. She later succumbed to the injuries during treatment, Inspector Shafiq Ahmed said.
Neelam's family has alleged that ever since her marriage to Munna Singh two years ago, she was being harassed for dowry by her husband and the in-laws, Ahmed said.
On the basis of their complaint, a case of dowry death has been lodged with Dehat Kotwali police against the accused but no arrest has been made so far, the inspector added.
