Gouri Bhattacharya, a resident of Sarat Pally, in her complaint to the police said she and her 26-year-old daughter had been threatened by Das and a land broker for asking for the money that was due to her after selling her land to them.
Das had allegedly paid only half of the agreed price of Rs 15 lakh to them and promised to give the rest after the registration. However, he allegedly refused to do so after the registration was completed on Friday last and threatened them with rape and murder when they asked for it.
The complaint was lodged during the day with the police.
As news of the complaint spread BJP workers protested before the police station and demanded the arrest of Das.
