Anima Chakraborty of Shantipur in Nadia district used to work as a cook in Gariahat area of south Kolkata.
She had developed an extra-marital relationship with Sanjit Biswas, a poultry farm owner of Shantipur who had business relation with her chicken meat seller husband, Subhas Chakraborty.
Sanjit (45), a married man, frequently stayed with Anima at her home in Kolkata and died on July 14 after arriving there the previous day.
Without informing Sanjit's family members, Anima cremated his body at a burning ghat in Kolkata and collected the death certificate in the name of Subhas Chakraborty, her own husband, sources said.
She also managed to convince her son to accept the situation and he performed all religious rituals related to father's death.
When Sanjit did not return from Kolkata, his family members lodged a missing diary on July 15. However, Sanjit's son somehow came to know about his father's relation with Anima and lodged a kidnap case against her on August 17.
