Woman, daughter found hanging in southwest Delhi

A 48-year-old woman and her teenage daughter were found hanging in their house in southwest Delhi's Najafgarh area, with police suspecting that the mother committed suicide after "forcing" the girl to kill herself.
The incident was reported in the morning at 7.15 and it is believed that Anita Yadav and Siya (18) hung themselves last night, a senior police officer said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Siya's hands were tied behind her back. Also, it came to light that Anita, who is a government school teacher, was under "severe depression" due to her son's illness and her daughter's poor performance in school, he said.

"Prima facie it appears that the girl, a Class XII student, was forced to hang herself by her mother. Further probe will reveal the exact sequence of events and the reason that led them to take the extreme step," the senior police officer said.
Aditya, Anita's son, is a second year MBBS student of Manipal University. However, he had recently been diagnosed with some hormonal problems and was undergoing treatment at an Ayurveda centre in Jaipur.
Anita forced her husband Satpal, a school principal, to visit Aditya to check on his health yesterday and after he left, Anita first forced her daughter to hang herself and later committed suicide, police said.

Satpal was in touch with his wife over the phone but then she stopped receiving his calls. Today when he was trying to call them to inform that he was returning to Delhi with Aditya, they didn't respond.

He then asked his neighbour Ishwar Singh to check on them who found the house locked from inside. No one responded when he knoched on the door.
He made a PCR call and when the door was broken, the bodies of mother and daughter were found.
A three page suicide note also recovered from the spot, police said.
In the suicide note, Anita wrote that their bodies should be cremated before her husband arrives so that he doesn't have to see the unfortunate incident, police said.

She also said her daughter was "innocent" and "lovable" and now she will be residing in God's home where nobody will taunt her.
Police suspect that the daughter was also not in the pink of health and had some mental ailment, a police officer said.
