Woman, daughter sustain injuries in acid attack in Gurgaon

An unidentified miscreant allegedly threw acid on a young woman and her minor daughter leaving them injured in Gurgaon in Haryana.
The 25-year-old woman and her 9-year-old daughter, residents of Dharam Colony, Palam Vihar, Gurgaon, were standing on the roadside yesterday when the miscreant threw acid on them, a Haryana government release said here today.
Both the victims were under treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi.
The Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, has sanctioned Rs 25,000 each to the victims from the District Red Cross Society for their immediate assistance.
All the expenditure incurred on medical treatment for both the victims would be borne by the Department of Women and Child Development, Haryana, under the Relief and Rehabilitation of Acid Attack Victims (Women and Child) Scheme, the release said.
An FIR has been lodged by the SHO of Palam Vihar Police Station, Gurgaon, in connection with the incident.
The Superintendent of Police, Gurgaon, has also been directed to make the police force more vigilant so that such incidents do not occur in future.
