Woman detective's police custody extended till Feb 11

A court here today extended till February 11 the police custody of Rajani Pandit, said to be the first woman detective of the country, who was arrested for her alleged involvement in illegal procurement of call detail records (CDRs).
Pandit was presented before Judicial Magistrate First Class S L Gupta, who extended her custody till February 11.
The crime branch had sought the extension of Pandit's custody, saying it needed to interrogate her further in connection with the case, DCP (Crime) Abhishek Trimukhe said.
Pandit (54) was arrested by the Thane Crime Branch officials on February 2.
According to the police, Pandit's name had cropped up after four private detectives, arrested earlier in connection with the case, had revealed her alleged involvement.

The case against the four private detectives was that they were illegally procuring CDRs from some persons in neighbouring Mumbai and selling them for money, the police had said.
