Woman died; husband, sister-in-law injured in road accident

A 22-year-old married woman died while her husband and sister-in-law were injured after a truck hit a motorcycle they were riding in South Delhi's Sarita Vihar area, police said today.
The deceased has been identified as Shilpi (22). Her husband Govind (24) was driving the motorcycle while sister- in-law Babita (21) and Shilpi were sitting behind, said a police official.
The accident took place around 11.30 pm last night when they were heading towards their residence at Sant Nagar in Old Faridabad, they said.
"The truck hit them from behind. Shilpi was thrown on the ground and came under the wheels of the truck and died immediately," he said.
Locals called up the police which rushed them to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where Shilpi was declared brought dead and the other two were admitted with several injuries, he said.
Locals also caught the truck driver, identified as Raj Kumar (44) and handed him over to the police before beating him up. Raj Kumar is a resident of Panipat.

He was taken for a medical test, but he was not found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
A case under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of IPC was registered at Sarita Vihar police station, said the official.
Police said that it could not be ascertained that whether the pillion riders were wearing helmets or not.
