A 50-year-old woman died while fighting two bike-borne snatchers in Vivek Vihar area of Delhi, police said.
The incident took place last night when Murdla Mehra was in a rickshaw on her way to her residence in Ramprasth Park area of Ghaziabad, they said.
"Mehra was in a rickshaw when two unidentified bike-borne assailants tried to snatch her purse near Yamuna Sports Complex. She resisted their snatching bid and this angered the duo who pushed her out of the rickshaw," a senior police officer said.
One of the accused also hit her on the head with a rod, following which they both fled from the spot, he added.
After the incident, she was rushed to a nearby hospital from where she was referred to GTB Hospital.
She died during treatment.
"A case has been registered against unidentified persons at Vivek Vihar police station. Police are scanning the footage of CCTV camera installed in nearby areas to identify them. Further investigations are on," the officer said.
