Woman dies in hospital after falling off two-wheeler following

A 24-year-old woman MBA student today succumbed to her injuries at a hospital here, six days after she fell from a two-wheeler following a scuffle while being allegedly abducted by a man, police said.

The man has been taken into custody and is being questioned, they said.

The woman sustained head injuries after she fell from the motorcycle that was driven by her friend Bharat Kumar on June 30, they said.

However, the woman's father lodged a complaint with police alleging that the man kidnapped his daughter, whose engagement was fixed with another man, when she was returning home after writing her final year exams and attempted to murder her, police said.

A case of kidnapping and attempt to murder was registered initially.

Based on preliminary investigation, police said a scuffle broke out between the woman and Bharat while they were riding the motorcycle during which she "fell" down.

"We are verifying CCTV footage. Bharat has been taken into custody and being questioned," Choutuppal Police Station Inspector A Venkataiah said.
