Woman dies of gunshot: husband says suicide,her family says

A 34-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances at her residence in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area here yesterday evening.
While her husband has claimed that she committed suicide after they had a heated argument, the woman's family has alleged that he murdered her.
The deceased has been identified as Rashi Jain (34). Her husband Vardhman Jain runs a cloth business in the area.
According to Vardhman, on the day of incident, the couple had a heated argument on a trivial matter as a result of which Rashi went to the bedroom, locked herself in and shot herself in the forehead with his licensed revolver.

On hearing the gunshot, he broke open the door and found his wife lying on the bed with the bullet pierced through her forehead, he told the police.
His son was also present at home, at the time of incident.

They rushed Rashi to Lok Nayak hospital where doctors declared her brought dead, police said.
Prima facie it appears the crime scene was disturbed, police said, adding that they have seized the weapon which is the licensed revolver of the husband.
The forensics team and the ballistic team were called in to examine the spot, it said.
The husband of the deceased has claimed that she was suffering from prolonged illness, the police said, adding that they are in the process of questioning the family members.

"A three-member panel of doctors will be conducting the post-mortem examination of the deceased to ascertain the cause of death. However, no case has been registered so far," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Ajay Kumar.
