Nagajothi, a mother of three, was mixing chemicals in the match factory on August 3 when the upper portion of her right hand got stuck in a machine and was severed.
After first aid at a private hospital, she was referred to Government Rajaji hospital (GRH) here in view of the severity of the injury.
Doctors at the hospital performed the eight hour-long replantation surgery to successfully fix the limb back.
Dean S Revathy, said it was a rare surgery but not a complex one, adding that it was GRH'S fourth successful replantation surgery.
"I am happy as my hand is reattached now," a beaming Nagajothi said, thanking the doctors.
