Woman found dead; police suspect rape and murder

In a suspected case of rape and murder, body of an unidentified woman was today found near a primary school in Balsingh Khera village of Mohanlalganj tehsil here, police said.
The body was spotted by village chowkidar Nokhelal this morning at around 6.30 am, who informed the Mohanlalganj police station.
Incidentally, the body was found in an area neighbouring Jabrauli village, where former US president Bill Clinton was scheduled to visit today as part of his itinerary.
The woman has not been identified as yet, police said, adding, a case has been registered in this regard.
Both the places fall under the Mohanlalganj police station.
Meanwhile, Congress state president Nirmal Khatri strongly condemned the incident and demanded proper action.

"We have asked the district unit to gherao the police station if police fails to take proper action," he said.
BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak while condemning the incident said, "It exposes tall claims of Akhilesh government of providing security to women and girls post the Badaun incident."
"It is surprising that in an area where security was reviewed for the former US President's visit, police failed to spot such a gruesome crime," he alleged.
Pathak alleged that it was a total failure on the part of police.
Meanwhile, IG (Law and Order), Amrendra Sengar said though the case, prima facie appears to be that of rape and murder, but a conclusive report of as to how the murder has been committed, would be known only after getting postmortem examination.
A team of three doctors has been requested for conducting the postmortem, which would also be videographed, Sengar said, adding a team of state forensic science lab has been sent to the spot by the DGP.
The doctors have been asked to give their report specially on whether rape has been committed and keeping the DNA for establishing the identity of the victim, he said.
The IG and SSP have inspected the scene of the crime, he said, adding there are marks on the spot to suggest struggle by the victim.
The locals in the area are also being questioned.
