Special judge Brijesh Kumar Garg also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Delhi-based Anita after holding her guilty for the offences punishable under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
While convicting Anita, the court relied on the statements of prosecution witnesses saying despite being cross examined by her counsel during the trial, "no material discrepancy has come on record to discard their testimonies or to make the prosecution case doubtful".
During the trial, Anita denied all the allegations against her and claimed that she has been falsely implicated in the case. Her lawyer argued that despite her client being arrested from a busy place, no public witness had joined the probe.
The defence counsel also argued that there were material contradictions in the statements of the prosecution witnesses and there were several discrepancies which make the entire prosecution case doubtful.
It also said that various provisions of the NDPS Act were duly complied with by police during the probe.
