A woman Government official in Madhya Pradesh was today caught by Lokayukla Police while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 here.
"We caught red-handed District Panchayat's Mid-Day Meal (MDM) Task Manager Kinal Tripathi taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from one Ramesh Jatav at her office," Lokayukta Police Inspector Rajiv Gupta said.
Jatav is Director of two self-help groups preparing and serving food in Government-run schools.
According to Jatav's complaint, Tripathi went to a school where his self-help groups prepare meal to check its quality on November 5. During the visit, she demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from Jatav, saying his food was sub-standard. She threatened to scrap his food suppling contract if he doesn't pay the money, Gupta said.
Jatav agreed to pay the amount and at the same time lodged a complaint with Lokayukta Police, which laid a trap and caught the Government official, while accepting the bribe money.
Tripathi was arrested but released on bail, Gupta said, adding she has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
