Sujata Barua Bhattacharya, who is a resident of Mumbai, had been living in Krishna Nagar area here. She had worked as a teacher in several schools in the past and was giving tuition to students of the area in Delhi.
Bhattacharya claims to be a double MA in English and Economics. As she used to give tuitions in the area, one Benjamin Joseph, who lived in the same locality, asked her how to get his children's admission into reputed schools.
"The deal was struck and he paid the money to the woman. On February 19, she gave fake verification slips to Franklin which carried the stamp of not just the school but also of Duty MM Patiala House Court," said a police official.
Franklin became suspicious about the whole thing when he saw the court's stamp on the verification slip. He then approached the police on February 19. The police then registered a case and arrested the woman last evening.
A police official said the woman was earlier arrested in a similar case last year and was released from jail in November only. She is fluent in English and has skills to convince. Four fake stamps have been recovered from her house.
