The 26-year-old woman had strained relations with her husband and in-laws and she allegedly staged the robbery drama to escape with the money with her one of her paramours, police said.
The woman had alleged on September 1 that while her family members were away, three unidentified robbers entered the house, disrobed and gagged her and fled with jewellery and cash worth Rs 10 lakh, a senior police officer said.
"The woman was having affairs as she felt that she was in a loveless marriage. She planned the entire drama and hid the stolen items in a toilet sink and her cellphone in a water tank. She even tore her clothes so that her family, for fear of social stigma, wouldn't report the matter to police," a senior police officer said.
The woman had plans to elope with one of her paramours but before she could do that, she was arrested, the officer said.
Relevant sections will be added to the FIR that was registered earlier, the officer said.
